What To Expect

The Church of Christ in Checotah is a group of warm hearted and caring people. Those who visit our services at 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sundays can expect to feel welcome and at home. You can expect to be cordially greeted at the door. If you come at 9:30 a.m. Sunday or 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday there will be classes for you and your children of any age. We receive many compliments on our classes. Our teachers are devoted Christians who put in the preparation time required to lead informative and biblically charged classes. All are welcome to join in and learn God’s Word and His will for our lives.

WHAT IS YOUR WORSHIP LIKE? For our worship services you can expect to be with people who truly love the Lord, Mark 12:30. We love to pray, 1 Thessalonians 5:17. We love to sing and are blessed with enthusiastic and gifted song leaders, Ephesians 5:19. The sermon will be rich with scripture, 2 Timothy 4:2. (You can listen to complete audio sermons under the “Sermons” tab on the home page.)  We offer the Lord’s Supper (Communion-grape juice and unleavened bread) every week and invite all Christians to participate with us, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.  We partake as the trays are passed. Feel free to take a moment of personal prayer and reflection.  As a guest we don’t expect you to give when the offering plate is passed, but you are certainly welcome to do so. We see it as part of worship. You will find our worship services to be simple, nontheatrical, reverent and joyful.

We want everything we do to honor Christ. We are trying to live out and help others to live out basic, sincere Christianity: This is a church where you can grow in your faith and connect with other members of God’s family.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS?  Come as you are. There is not a dress code. We have vacationers and business travelers stop in frequently.  We are more concerned about impacting the inner person than outward appearance.

WHAT IF I HAVE CHILDREN?  We have an attended cry room for babies through 3rd grade through the north door in the foyer. For 4th grade on up, there is an outline of the sermon in the bulletin. Children are encouraged to fill in the blanks. Your kids will not be treated as second class citizens here. They are precious to us and we care deeply about nurturing their natural desire to learn about their Creator.

CAN I MEET THE PREACHER? Yes! Curtis Hartshorn would love to meet you before or after a service and is available during the week to talk. Come up and introduce yourself and let’s get acquainted.  His email address is [email protected] and his cell phone is 918 616-5967.

If you have any other questions about our church or anything we do or teach, feel free to drop an email or call the church office at 918 473-5931.
